Death and Dying

We live and die "technologized" lives. I am writing this now on a computer and you are reading it on-line. There is a risk that we might be deluded into thinking that life and death can take place in cyber space. This is a delusion-- real living and dying take place in "the real space time" continuum. As long as we have bodies that undergo change and transition and finally the inevitable meeting with death we will need three things: Honesty, community, rituals of transcendence. We are blessed or cursed with the burden of knowing we will die. This knowledge and awareness soften and humanizes some people. In others it becomes a source of anxiety provoking futile attempts to deny our impermanence.
